Cardinal Reclamation Company, LLC (Cardinal) and Iron Eagle Land Rehabilitation, LLC (Iron Eagle) are experienced in contract reclamation, rehabilitation of mine lands, including large earthwork projects, re-soiling and revegetation of mine lands, planting of native trees, and treatment and remediation of acid mine drainage. Cardinal and Iron Eagle Land Rehabilitation are currently managing the reclamation for dozens of mining permits in Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, and Alabama through strategic relationships with sureties and state and federal regulatory agencies.
Cardinal and Iron Eagle have eliminated nearly 40,000 linear feet of exposed dangerous high walls, planted more than 500,000 trees, remediated numerous long-term water treatment sites in Kentucky, and is currently working with Alabama regulatory agencies to reclaim and remediate 16 coal permits to ensure those lands are returned to a productive post-mining land use.
The Cardinal and Iron Eagle management team has more than 80 years of combined experience in mining and reclamation that also includes regulatory/environmental compliance at both the state and federal levels.

Cardinal manages the reclamation for dozens of mining permits in Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, and Alabama.
Cardinal eliminated nearly 30,000 linear feet of exposed high walls, planted more than 500,000 trees, and remediated long-term water treatment sites in Kentucky, and is currently working with Alabama regulatory agencies to reclaim and remediate 16 coal permits to ensure those lands are returned to a productive post-mining land use.
Cardinal is led by Lanny Erdos, who serves as the companies President as well as the Vice President of Environmental Compliance for Eagle Specialty Materials. He is responsible for coal reclamation activities in Kentucky and Virginia, as well as regulatory and environmental compliance in Kentucky, Virginia, Indiana, and Illinois. Prior to Lanny joining Cardinal and Eagle Specialty Materials he was appointed by President Donald J. Trump and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve at the U.S. Dept of the Interior as the Director of the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE). Prior to his federal service he worked at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources managing Ohio's coal and industrial minerals regulatory programs, as well as management of the state's Abandoned Mine Lands and Mine Safety programs.
